Il giardino negli occhi
The main objective was to combine awareness, creativity and imagination in order to produce an original interpretation of the atmosphere of the historical gardens in Trentino that belongs to the cultural heritage of the region.
In order to analyze the several aspects of these enchanting “green monuments”, the project has joined together cinema, literature, illustrated books; differently from painting and graphics, cinema and storytelling provide a complex depiction of the garden, often used as metaphor of unexpected meetings or places to discover. The visit to important “green monuments” - such as Villa Ciani Bassetti in Lasino, Villa de Mersi and Villa Tambosi in Villazzano - has been accompanied by the screening of cinematographic pieces and the presentation of contemporary novels in which the natural setting it’s part of the narrative apparatus and doesn’t merely provide a sort of backdrop. This was the starting point to deal with the short film, which is an hybrid output, fresh and contemporaneous, of different kind of expressive codes.
The short film was made thanks to the collaboration among three different Piano Giovani di Zona in Trentino, the cultural association Ecomuseo della Valle dei Laghi and the Provincia autonoma di Trento, under the guidance of Wasabi Filmakers studio.

Illustrations
Some illustrations have been created and then integrated in the film. The illustrated layer stands for the fantasy and imagination of the little protagonist that is metaphorically triggered by the binoculars. Through these lenses she visualizes imaginary worlds until the fantastic elements start looking at her through the binoculars as well.
